excellent thread. tldr; tweeting a lot about bitcoin doesn’t mean you actually understand it and those who really understand it might not tweet a lot.
One phenomenon of twitter becoming the town square for discussions about #bitcoin is that the most prominent voices have gradually selected more and more for those skilled at self-promotion, and less and less for those who are...you know...good at understanding bitcoin. 1/13

no he’s not, it is efficient, and it is being scaled. great use for payments.
can we stop calling it the lightning network and start saying “we are scaling bitcoin by routing pre-signed bitcoin transactions via payment channels” .. because that’s what we are doing
One of the crypto-sector most influential executives is clear: #bitcoin 's Proof of Work is inefficient and cannot be scaled. Not a great use case for payments

having an RnD grant from the USNSF isn’t not at all the same thing as “being paid by the USG to build a replacement for bitcoin,” which is how you started this thread
Addenda:
1. KRNC isn't *controlled* by the government.
R&D was funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation, but it's a private project!
2. fUSD isn't a CBDC. CBDCs are issued by Central Banks, who can debase them infinitely. The whole point of fUSD is avoiding that!

idk, maybe just convert your savings to bitcoin?
seems much simpler than trying to invent a whole new thing?
But Bitcoin doesn't do anything to protect the value of people's existing bank deposits.
It's actually a threat to them, since it's a competitor.
If your savings are in U.S. Dollars, and Bitcoin replaces the Dollar, then your savings will be destroyed!

The social layer tends to distract from the developments proposed. Proposals should be viewed without prejudice toward developers. Who cares if Satoshi worked for the NSA or McDonalds? I’d like to say I don’t. But the crux is: we likely all would. More anon dev ftw! 👊🏽

PSA: I want (non-recursive) covenants (at some point), and I don’t care if Klaus Schwab himself proposes them. Background, connections, etc shouldn’t matter. It matters that the tech checks out. This is why pseudonymity in Bitcoin is so important.
